Lisa Kinsolving – Biography
Lisa Kinsolving brings to Kids Talk About God an extensive background in music, drama and theatre. She holds college degrees in both music and drama. She has performed in at least 100 plays and musicals produced by community theatres, colleges, children’s theatre companies (including a multi-state tour of The Wizard of Oz), repertory theatre companies (including 60 performances as Ado Annie in Oklahoma!) and churches. She spent about 30 years singing and often touring with college and/or church choirs. She is an experienced pianist as well, having played for weddings, church services, auditions, rehearsals and performances for many years.
Her experience with various children’s theatre groups is especially pertinent for the new Mission Explorers project. She worked at least 5-6 years for Sacramento Children’s Theatre, which often involved up to 200 children in a single musical production.
Lisa worked for 10 years at Capital Christian Center, a large church in Sacramento. She served as assistant to the Music Pastor. As such, she participated in several capacities in their enormous Singing Christmas Tree production, which involved 500-600 participants in its 10+ performances each December. She was heavily involved in choral and ensemble singing, solo singing, drama roles, dancing in the choreography team and script writing. She also performed a wide variety of administrative tasks, such as overseeing the makeup supplies, organizing dressing rooms and backstage needs, providing appropriate music for 50 orchestra members and 150 choir members, overseeing souvenir booth items and volunteers, organizing the 500-600 people involved in the production and handling communications with all the various groups.
Her script writing experience includes three full Singing Christmas Tree scripts (and portions of others), four comedy-mystery plays (three of which she also directed), radio spots, PSAs for television, and promotional videos for Kids Talk About God. She also wrote the script and songs for the children's musical Mission Explorers Africa: The Musical.
