Carey's Comments!

We really don’t know what God likes to eat, but we do know that the Bible talks a lot about bread. When the Israelites were in the wilderness and hungry, they cried to God and he sent them manna, a kind of bread. Every day God sent the manna from heaven and every day the people collected it and ate it. This special bread from God saved the people.
In the New Testament, Jesus called himself the bread of life that saves us. In Jesus’ last meal, he broke bread and gave it to his disciples to eat. The breaking and tearing of the bread was a symbol of what was going to happen to Jesus on the cross. His body was broken and torn when Roman soldiers nailed his hands and feet onto a wooden cross. One of the soldiers took a spear and split open Jesus’ side.
When you believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and rose from the dead, you are eating the bread of life. Only Jesus can give you life that will last forever because he has that kind of life. Faith in Jesus Christ is the only way into God’s kingdom. But did you know, it’s also the best way to live your life? Just as God provided manna in the desert for the Israelites, he will provide for you. Try chewing on that idea.
One time when Jesus’ followers asked him to eat some food, he said, “My food is to do what the one who sent me wants me to do. My food is to finish the work that he gave me to do” (John 4:34). Pleasing his heavenly Father was more important to Jesus than eating food. He lived to do God’s will.
